I love drawing chain links. Bit by little bit, steel piece by steel piece. Every one of their chilly, polished links closes the loop a little tighter, takes a bit more freedom from a limb.

And while I draw, he's sitting there, in his bonds, looking miserable, unable to do a thing.

And while I draw, I'm thinking of you. Yes, you.

But for a bit of chance, or planning, it could be you whose limb is slowly, softly, becoming draped in chain, then fixed inescapably.

And for another bit of chance, or planning, it could be you whose hand is slowly, softly, draping the chain over my limbs, fixing them inescapably.

You know who you are.

You know whether your hand wishes to hold the chain, or to feel it.

I feel with you.
